The electromagnetic coil that engages the air conditioning compressor's clutch, failed so the clutch cannot be pulled in. The compressor is belt-driven and always turning — the clutch is what connects it — so a failed coil means the pulley spins freely and nothing is compressed.

The module commands it, sees no current or the wrong current, and reports the circuit. The distinguishing observation is that nothing clicks: a healthy clutch engages with a clear audible click and a visible movement of the plate. A system with correct pressures and no click at all is the coil or its supply.

Coils fail open from heat and age, and their air gap widens as the friction faces wear until the magnet can no longer pull the plate in. Measure the coil's resistance at the connector to separate a failed coil from a supply fault, and check the air gap against specification — a coil that is electrically perfect and cannot close an excessive gap is a common finding, and on some clutches the gap is adjustable.
