Toyota's 3.3 twin-turbo V6 diesel — in the Land Cruiser J300 and the Lexus LX.
It replaced the 4.5 V8 1VD-FTV, which is the framing that matters: two fewer cylinders, a litre less, more power, and a reputation that has not been earned yet because the engine is too new for one. Nothing about the V8's record transfers.
It is a modern common-rail diesel with the full emissions set — particulate filter, EGR and, in most markets, SCR. The duty cycle that breaks it is a heavy vehicle on short urban journeys, which is exactly how many of these are used: the filter never reaches temperature, and fuel dilution of the oil follows.
The turbochargers are sequential and their oil feed is what the service interval protects. On an engine making this much power per litre that is the failure mode rather than routine advice.
Independent experience is genuinely thin and the factory procedure is worth more here than anything the community has had time to learn.
