Ford Freestar
The last of Ford's front-drive minivans, replacing the Windstar and sold alongside the Mercury Monterey, which is the same vehicle. The troublesome 3.8 Essex is gone, replaced by the 3.9 and 4.2 members of the same family, and the more consequential change is underneath: the four-speed automatic in these has a documented history of torque converter and pump failure, and a shudder or a delayed engagement is worth investigating properly rather than being treated as fluid condition.
