Mazda CX-7
The 2006-2012 crossover, and the model where Mazda's 2.3 DISI turbo engine reached volume — which is where nearly all of its diagnosis lives, because that engine has a well-documented and specific failure chain. The turbocharger is oil-cooled through a feed line that coats with carbon, starving the bearing and destroying the turbo, and the same deposits reach the variable valve timing actuator; the result is a car that sets boost, timing and oil-pressure codes in sequence rather than one clear fault. Oil change interval and the condition of that feed line are the real diagnostic inputs. The naturally aspirated 2.5 fitted later is a different and far less troublesome engine, and the 2.2 diesel sold in Europe carries its own particulate-filter story.
