Subaru Ascent
The three-row SUV, and the largest Subaru — on the Global Platform with the 2.4 turbo FA24 as the only engine, which keeps the powertrain diagnosis short. The interesting part is what it does not have: no manual and no conventional automatic, only the Lineartronic CVT, and that unit is working harder here than in anything else the brand sells given the weight and the towing rating. Fluid condition and cooler flow belong early in any driveability complaint rather than late.
