Volkswagen Eos
The coupé-cabriolet on Golf underpinnings, and its roof is the reason it has a page of its own. Where most folding hardtops are two or three panels, the Eos uses a five-piece assembly with a sliding glass sunroof built into it — the only production roof of its kind — and that complexity is where the work is: multiple hydraulic circuits, a long list of position sensors and microswitches, and drain channels that block and put water into the cabin and the electronics beneath it. A roof that stops mid-cycle reports faults like anything else and should be read rather than forced. Everything below the waistline is Golf and Passat material of the same years.
