Vehicle
Volkswagen Scirocco
The 2008-2017 coupé is a Golf Mk5 floorpan under Mk6-era engines, which is an unusual combination and the reason a workshop occasionally picks the wrong data: chassis and suspension parts follow the Mk5, engine and electronics follow the Mk6. The engines are the well-documented EA111 1.4 TSI, whose twin-charged versions are known for timing-chain tensioner failure, and the EA888 2.0 TSI, where oil consumption through the piston rings and a timing chain tensioner of the same design account for most of its serious faults. The 2.0 TDI common-rail cars are conventional. As with any DSG car, gearbox mechatronic faults are worth reading before assuming a clutch problem.

Service information
Information, not instruction
CarGeek is a reference, not a service manual. Its pages are written from public sources and from what other people have found, never from a manufacturer's own service information, so they can be wrong or incomplete for your particular vehicle. Some of what they describe carries real risk: high voltage, fuel under pressure, stored energy, hot and moving parts.
Have anything you intend to act on checked by a trained person against the manufacturer's own procedure for your vehicle. Nothing here replaces that procedure.

Nothing posted about this yet. Whatever you found is worth writing down — even a dead end saves someone the same afternoon.
What makes one worth reading:
- The car — make, model, year and engine. The same fault behaves differently on each.
- What you measured, not only what you replaced.
- What actually fixed it — or that nothing did, which is worth knowing too.
