The module controlling air or adaptive suspension, faulty so ride height and damping can no longer be managed. Its faults reach other systems, because ride height feeds headlight levelling, stability control and on some vehicles the transmission's behaviour — which is why its codes appear alongside invalid-data faults from modules with no obvious connection to the suspension.

A module that cannot control height will default to a safe state, usually holding the current height or lowering to a fixed one, and it will inhibit the compressor rather than risk running it against a fault. A vehicle sitting at an unusual height, or one corner low after standing overnight, is the visible symptom and is often noticed before any warning.

Rule out the system before the module. A leaking air spring, a failed compressor or a height sensor out of adjustment all produce module-level faults, and the compressor is frequently the casualty rather than the cause — it burns out trying to keep up with a leak. Check for leaks first, since a module replaced into a leaking system fails the same way, and a compressor that has run continuously will need replacing too.
