Ford Explorer Sport Trac
The Explorer with a short pickup bed, and for everything forward of the rear seats it is an Explorer — same frame family, same engines, same electrical architecture — so that page and the Ranger's cover nearly all of it. The bed is a composite moulding rather than steel, which changes accident repair and rules out most bolt-on bed hardware. The first generation uses the 4.0 SOHC V6 whose timing chain guides and cassette at the back of the engine are the well-known failure, audible as a rattle at start-up and a job that requires the engine out or the body lifted; the second generation adds the 4.6 V8.
