Aftermarket skip shift eliminator fitted
A device fitted to defeat the skip-shift lockout. It works by presenting the module with a resistance or a signal that stops the solenoid ever engaging, which the module detects as a circuit that is not behaving as commanded.
So the code is the module correctly noticing a modification, not a fault. It is worth naming because the diagnosis is otherwise circular: the circuit tests wrong, the solenoid tests fine, and nothing explains it until somebody looks under the console and finds the device. Ask what has been fitted, since owners rarely volunteer it and installers rarely record it. Removing it restores standard behaviour, which the owner may not want — that is their decision rather than a repair.
Typically an easy fix. Often worth checking before paying anyone to look.
