Faulty brake temperature sensor
The sensor monitoring brake temperature, faulty. It is fitted on vehicles that need to know how hard the brakes are working — performance cars, heavy vehicles and those with brake-based stability functions — so that the module can intervene before fade.
A fault withdraws the protection rather than the brakes. The module cannot know whether the brakes are overheating, so it disables the strategies that depend on it and reports the circuit. Reading falsely high is the version that annoys: the module limits performance or warns on cold brakes. Compare its reading against ambient after the vehicle has stood overnight — a sensor disagreeing with the air around it has an offset fault no circuit test will show. Its position at the caliper means heat, vibration and salt reach the harness first.
Typically specialist work. Needs equipment or training most home workshops do not have.
