Faulty clutch or neutral safety switch
The switch confirming the clutch is depressed or the transmission is in neutral, faulty so the vehicle cannot be started. It is a permission device — it exists to stop an engine cranking in gear — so its failure leaves a healthy vehicle immobile.
The symptom is no crank with everything else normal: lights, dashboard and fuel pump all fine, and nothing at all on turning the key. A vehicle that starts if the clutch is pressed unusually hard, or that starts in neutral but not in park, is describing an adjustment rather than a failure. Check the switch's reported state while operating the pedal or selector, and inspect the mounting — these are on slotted brackets and shift over time.
