Heavy or prolonged braking
The brakes genuinely worked hard enough to overheat — a long descent, towing, or repeated heavy applications. It is a condition rather than a fault, and the codes are the systems reporting what they measured.
Hot brakes fade, because the friction material's coefficient falls with temperature and the fluid can boil, giving a long soft pedal. Stability and anti-lock systems may also withdraw while temperatures are outside their assumptions. Check the freeze frame for what the vehicle was doing — a code stored on a long descent with a trailer is the physics rather than a component. Repeated events are different: they cook the fluid and glaze the pads permanently, so a vehicle used this way needs its fluid condition checked rather than reassurance.
