Instrument cluster replaced
A cluster fitted from another vehicle or replaced without being configured. The cluster is not a display — on most modern vehicles it holds the odometer, contributes to the immobiliser, and is paired to the vehicle — so swapping one is a configuration job rather than a fitting one.
An unconfigured cluster produces immobiliser and configuration faults, and often a vehicle that will not start at all. The mileage question is the one to raise before any work: transferring a cluster transfers its recorded distance, and in most jurisdictions the correct procedure and disclosure are a legal matter rather than a technical preference. Establish whether a cluster can be programmed to the vehicle before it is bought, since some are locked once paired and are then worthless.
Typically specialist work. Needs equipment or training most home workshops do not have.

Information, not instruction
CarGeek is a reference, not a service manual. Its pages are written from public sources and from what other people have found, never from a manufacturer's own service information, so they can be wrong or incomplete for your particular vehicle. Some of what they describe carries real risk: high voltage, fuel under pressure, stored energy, hot and moving parts.
Have anything you intend to act on checked by a trained person against the manufacturer's own procedure for your vehicle. Nothing here replaces that procedure.

What makes one worth reading:
- The car — make, model, year and engine. The same fault behaves differently on each.
- What you measured, not only what you replaced.
- What actually fixed it — or that nothing did, which is worth knowing too.
