Open circuit in display wiring
A break in the wiring to a gear or status display, so the module cannot drive it. The transmission is unaffected — this is the indication rather than the function — but a driver who cannot see which gear is selected on a vehicle with electronic selection has lost something that matters.
The module monitors its own output, so the code names the circuit rather than the display. The harness usually runs through the centre console, where it is disturbed by trim removal, spillages and anything stored around the lever — so recent work in the cabin is the strongest predictor. Check the connector at both ends before opening the loom, since a backed-out terminal or a plug not fully latched is far commoner than a broken conductor.
