Water present in the fuel filter
Water separated out and collected in the filter's water trap. This is the system working, not failing — diesel filters are designed to separate water precisely because water destroys a high pressure pump, which depends on fuel for lubrication.
The sensor's warning should be acted on rather than reset. Draining the bowl is a two-minute job and the alternative is an injection system replaced. Look at what comes out: water separates visibly, and a large quantity points at a leaking filler seal, contaminated fuel, or a tank that has been standing. Repeated water means a source rather than condensation, so a trap that fills again within weeks is worth tracing rather than draining indefinitely.
