Daewoo's small petrol engines — the 0.8 three-cylinder F8CV and 1.0 B10S — in the Matiz, Spark and Tico.
⚑ The F8CV is Suzuki's F8B, built under licence — the same engine as in the Alto and Maruti 800, and Suzuki material describes it where Daewoo's does not. The B10S that replaced it is GM Korea's own, part of the Family 0 line whose page is here as gm-family-0.
A three-cylinder is not inherently balanced, and on an engine this small the shake at idle is design rather than fault — an owner reporting vibration is usually describing the car.
Its complaints are the small-engine set: a carboned throttle body giving a hunting idle, ignition coils, and a coolant temperature sensor that ruins economy without setting anything anybody notices.
These are among the cheapest cars ever sold new, which is the practical constraint: almost no fault on one is worth an expensive repair, and that decides most outcomes rather than the engineering.
