Daewoo Matiz
The city car that sold in enormous numbers across Europe, Asia and North Africa, and the Daewoo-badged era is a decade of it before any Chevrolet existed in most of those markets — the same vehicle later became the Chevrolet Spark, whose page covers that half. Mechanically it is very simple: a 0.8 and later 1.0 three-cylinder, a manual gearbox on almost all of them, and multi-point injection with a standard diagnostic connector from about 2000. Its recurring faults are correspondingly basic and mostly electrical — the ignition coil pack and its HT leads, a crankshaft position sensor that causes an intermittent no-start, and corroded earth straps where the engine grounds to the body, which produce readings across unrelated sensors at once.
