Tata's direct-injected turbo petrols — the 1.2 three-cylinder of the Curvv and the 1.5 four of the Harrier and Safari.

⚑ One name, two cylinder counts, which is why this page states none. The 1.2 makes 123 hp and 225 Nm, the 1.5 168 hp and 280 Nm, and they are not the same engine bored out — check the cylinder count before applying anything written about the other.

It is Tata's first petrol with the injector in the chamber rather than the port, and that is the whole of what changes in a workshop. Revotron, the family beside it, is port-injected: its inlet valves are washed by fuel on every cycle and these are not. So carbon builds on the back of the inlet valves from crankcase vapour with nothing to rinse it off, and the symptom — a rough cold start and a misfire that comes and goes under light load — reads exactly like an ignition fault while the plugs and coils are perfect.

A high-pressure fuel pump and a rail running at a hundred times the port-injected pressure are the other difference, and a long-crank complaint belongs there rather than at the low-pressure pump the fault code often names.
