Volkswagen DL800 (R Tronic / S tronic)
7-speed dual-clutch · longitudinal · 2012–present
Also known as: dl800, dl-800, 0bz, r8 s tronic
Audi's DL800 — the seven-speed dual-clutch transaxle in the R8 and the Lamborghini Huracán.
⚑ It is not a DQ and shares nothing with one. Volkswagen's familiar DQ250 and DQ200 are transverse gearboxes for ordinary cars; this is a longitudinal transaxle behind a mid-mounted V10, rated for far more torque and built in tiny numbers. None of the DSG material a search returns applies.
It replaced the single-clutch R tronic, which was widely disliked for its shift quality — so a reader comparing an early R8 to a later one is comparing two completely different transmissions.
Its clutch packs are wet and serviceable, and the service is specialist work at specialist cost rather than a difficult job in itself.
The dual-clutch architecture page covers why low-speed hesitation and creep behaviour are the design rather than a fault on any of these.

Information, not instruction
CarGeek is a reference, not a service manual. Its pages are written from public sources and from what other people have found, never from a manufacturer's own service information, so they can be wrong or incomplete for your particular vehicle. Some of what they describe carries real risk: high voltage, fuel under pressure, stored energy, hot and moving parts.
Have anything you intend to act on checked by a trained person against the manufacturer's own procedure for your vehicle. Nothing here replaces that procedure.

What makes one worth reading:
- The car — make, model, year and engine. The same fault behaves differently on each.
- What you measured, not only what you replaced.
- What actually fixed it — or that nothing did, which is worth knowing too.
