Chevrolet Cobalt
The compact that replaced the Cavalier, on GM's Delta platform and shared with the Pontiac G5. The ignition switch is the thing to know about before anything else. The detent was weak enough that the key could be knocked out of Run by a jolt or a heavy keyring, which stops the engine and — because the airbags disarm with the ignition — disables them at the same time. It was recalled at enormous scale, but a car in front of you may not have had the work, and a stalling complaint here is not a routine driveability diagnosis. Establish the recall history first. Beyond that it is conventional Ecotec material, and the supercharged and turbocharged SS cars are a separate diagnostic subject again.
