Manufacturer

Lifan

China

Chinese maker whose cars were assembled in Iran by Kerman Motor and remain numerous there long after the brand's retreat from most export markets — precisely the unsupported, out-of-warranty population that reads its own codes. Its petrol engines are Mitsubishi 4G-family derivatives, so that documentation describes them where Lifan's own does not exist in any language a workshop is likely to hold.

What makes one worth reading:

  • The car — make, model, year and engine. The same fault behaves differently on each.
  • What you measured, not only what you replaced.
  • What actually fixed it — or that nothing did, which is worth knowing too.
