Mahindra XEV 9S

The seven-seat INGLO car, and the one place in this range where the electric and the combustion vehicle are the same vehicle: the XEV 9S is built on the XUV700's body, and Mahindra sells the petrol and diesel version of it as the XUV 7XO. Body, cabin, glass, seats and most of the chassis carry across; nothing from the engine bay does, because there is no engine bay.

Mechanically it is the BE 6 and the XEV 9e with a third row and a third battery. Same rear-mounted Valeo permanent-magnet motor, same rear-wheel drive, same LFP cells — so a drive-unit, charging or high-voltage procedure written for either of those applies here, and the 70 kWh pack this car introduced later reached the BE 6 too.

Every pack makes the same torque and that is the useful fact, not a coincidence. 380 Nm at 59, 70 and 79 kWh: on a single-motor car the figure is set by the motor and its inverter, so a pack size tells you about range and charging rate and nothing at all about how the car will pull. Only the power moves.

There is no engine, no fuel system, no catalyst and no emissions monitor, so the generic powertrain corpus reaches this vehicle only where a fault is electrical or chassis-side. Treat anything on an orange cable as its own subject.
