SAIPA Aria

SAIPA's crossover, on the same SP100 platform as the Shahin saloon and the tallest thing the company has developed in-house. It carries a single engine — a two-litre naturally aspirated four with direct injection, the 4J20V, built under licence from Mitsubishi — and the direct injection is the real departure for this range, not the turbocharging the car was expected to get and did not. That changes the diagnostic picture in a specific way: a high-pressure fuel pump and its own rail, injectors that carbon at the tip rather than at a port, and intake valves with no fuel washing over them, so deposits there are a routine finding rather than a fault. Everything else follows the family: standard diagnostics over a conventional connector, coil-on-plug ignition whose units fail individually, and fuel-quality sensitivity at the pump strainer and the injectors.

Service information

Information, not instruction

CarGeek is a reference, not a service manual. Its pages are written from public sources and from what other people have found, never from a manufacturer's own service information, so they can be wrong or incomplete for your particular vehicle. Some of what they describe carries real risk: high voltage, fuel under pressure, stored energy, hot and moving parts.

Have anything you intend to act on checked by a trained person against the manufacturer's own procedure for your vehicle. Nothing here replaces that procedure.

Nothing posted about this yet. Whatever you found is worth writing down — even a dead end saves someone the same afternoon.

What makes one worth reading:

  • The car — make, model, year and engine. The same fault behaves differently on each.
  • What you measured, not only what you replaced.
  • What actually fixed it — or that nothing did, which is worth knowing too.
