Vehicle
Scion FR-S
The rear-drive coupé, and the interesting case in this make: a Subaru, not a Toyota. The FA20 is a Subaru flat-four with Toyota's D-4S dual injection layered on top, built at Subaru's Gunma plant, and sold simultaneously as the Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86. So its diagnosis draws on Subaru's boxer conventions — bank numbering that does not map the way an inline engine's does — while the fuel system is Toyota's. Search all three names; the population is split three ways and so is what has been written about it.

A Subaru BRZ under a third badge — a Subaru flat-four with Toyota's dual injection, so bank numbering follows boxer convention rather than inline. The Scion badge ended in 2016 but the generation ran to 2020 as the Toyota 86.

Information, not instruction
CarGeek is a reference, not a service manual. Its pages are written from public sources and from what other people have found, never from a manufacturer's own service information, so they can be wrong or incomplete for your particular vehicle. Some of what they describe carries real risk: high voltage, fuel under pressure, stored energy, hot and moving parts.
Have anything you intend to act on checked by a trained person against the manufacturer's own procedure for your vehicle. Nothing here replaces that procedure.

Nothing posted about this yet. Whatever you found is worth writing down — even a dead end saves someone the same afternoon.
What makes one worth reading:
- The car — make, model, year and engine. The same fault behaves differently on each.
- What you measured, not only what you replaced.
- What actually fixed it — or that nothing did, which is worth knowing too.
