Tremec TR-9080 / TR-9070 (DCT)

Tremec's dual-clutch gearboxes — the eight-speed TR-9080 in the mid-engined Corvette and the MC20, and the seven-speed TR-9070.

⚑ Tremec is a manual gearbox company, and these are not manuals. Everything this catalogue records about the T-56 and the TR-3650 — rebuildable, mechanical, fluid-sensitive in an ordinary way — applies to none of it. A dual-clutch has hydraulics, clutch packs, its own control unit and an adaptation strategy.

Low-speed shudder and hesitation from rest are the reports that recur, and on a wet dual-clutch they are usually clutch adaptation rather than wear — a relearn rather than a repair. See the dual-clutch architecture page, which covers why.

They are transaxles, mounted at the rear with the engine ahead of them, which changes the access assumptions completely from any other Tremec.

These are new, low-volume gearboxes and no independent failure pattern has established itself; dealer material is the practical source.

TR-9080 is an eight-speed and TR-9070 a seven. Both are Tremec dual-clutch units for mid-engined and rear-drive performance cars, and they are not interchangeable.
