Mercury Grand Marquis
The full-size body-on-frame saloon, and a Ford Crown Victoria in everything but the badge — the Panther platform ran essentially unchanged for two decades, which makes it one of the best-understood cars in North America and one of the easiest to find parts knowledge for. The 4.6 modular V8's intake manifold cracked at the coolant crossover on early cars, and the ignition coil-on-plug packs are the usual source of a misfire code. Fleet and taxi mileages mean most survivors are far past the point where wear items are the first suspect.
