Excessive oil or coolant consumption
Oil or coolant being burnt, which poisons oxygen sensors and catalytic converters. The sensor codes are downstream evidence of an engine problem, so replacing them without addressing what is being consumed simply buys the same fault again — and coolant disappearing with no visible leak is the more worrying finding, not the more reassuring one.
Typically specialist work. Needs equipment or training most home workshops do not have.
