Cause
Faulty transmission mode switch
The switch selecting sport, winter or economy shift programmes. Each position is a separate contact, so it fails selectively — one mode stops working while the others are fine — and because the gearbox drives normally, it reads as a software quirk rather than a switch.
Typically an easy fix. Often worth checking before paying anyone to look.
