Manual mode may engage unpredictably or not at all. If the selector has to be moved into a separate gate for manual mode, mention whether it feels different or looser than it used to.
What this code means
The manual mode switch is producing an implausible signal — a state that matches no valid mode, or one that disagrees with the selector position. On a lever that must be moved sideways into a manual gate, disagreement between this switch and the gear lever position sensor is the common case, and it usually means one of the two has drifted rather than failed.
