P0542: Intake Air Heater A Circuit High
What to do
Driveable, with harder cold starting. Ask for the heavy cable connections to be checked, not just the element.
What this code means
The intake air heater circuit is reading high — usually an open circuit or a control wire finding a supply voltage. Given the currents involved, a corroded high-current terminal produces this as readily as a failed element, and those terminals are worth inspecting and cleaning before parts are ordered.
