P0719: Brake Switch B Circuit Low
What to do
Check whether the brake lights are staying on with the pedal released; if they are, this is the same fault and the battery will go flat if the vehicle stands. Expect no cruise control and worse fuel economy at a steady cruise, because the torque converter is never locking up.
What this code means
The brake switch signal reads as though the brake pedal is permanently applied. The consequences follow from what the transmission does with that information: it will not lock up the torque converter while the brakes are on, so lock-up never happens at all, and cruise control refuses to engage because a system that believes the driver is braking will not take over the throttle.
A permanently applied signal often comes with brake lights that stay lit whenever the vehicle is unlocked, which flattens the battery over a night or two and is the symptom most owners notice first. A switch whose plunger has been left too long during adjustment, or a return stop pad that has crumbled — a common and cheap failure on many vehicles — produces both at once.
