P2417: O2 Sensor Signals Swapped Bank 2 Sensor 2/Bank 2 Sensor 3
What to do
A wiring mistake rather than a failed part; swapping the connectors back costs nothing. If the same fault is stored for bank 1 as well, ask for the other connectors disturbed during that job to be checked too. Do not agree to a catalytic converter while this is stored — the readings it would be judged on are coming from the wrong sensors.
What this code means
The second and third sensors on bank 2 are connected the wrong way round. The reasoning is at P2416 and the family argument at P2278.
Where this and its bank 1 counterpart are stored together, the likely history is a job in which all four downstream sensors were disconnected at once — which makes it more probable that other connectors in the same area were also crossed, and worth checking rather than assuming these two were the only ones.
