Honda's 1.0 three-cylinder VTEC Turbo — in the Civic and the Jazz in some markets.
It is the smallest engine Honda has fitted to a European car in decades, and it is a modern direct-injected turbo: intake-valve carbon at mileage is expected rather than a defect, because no fuel washes over the valves.
A three-cylinder is not inherently balanced. It carries a balance shaft and vibrates at idle more than the fours around it — an owner reporting shake at a stop is very often describing normal behaviour.
The turbocharger's oil feed is what the service interval is really protecting, and on an engine this small making this much power that is the failure mode rather than routine advice.
The L15B 1.5 turbo beside it is a different engine with its own page here, and the two are frequently confused because both wear the same VTEC Turbo badge.
