Hyundai's older commercial diesels — the 2.5 D4BF/D4BH and 2.6 D4BB — in the H-1, H100, Porter and Galloper.

They are Mitsubishi 4D5 engines built under licence, which is the useful fact: Mitsubishi material and Mitsubishi parts logic apply where Hyundai's are thin, and the family appears in Pajeros and L300s under its own codes.

They are indirect-injection with a mechanical pump — no rail, no filter, nothing to regenerate — so almost every modern diesel complaint is inapplicable and diagnosis is physical.

Glow plugs and their relay are the commonest cold-start fault and are testable in minutes; injection pump timing drifts with the belt and shows as smoke rather than as a running fault.

The D4CB 2.5 common-rail that replaced them has its own page here and shares the vehicles but not the engine — the CRDi badge is the dividing line, and a van of this age may be either.
