Suzuki's earlier kei engines — the two-stroke LJ50 and the F6A 660 — in the Jimny, Alto and Carry.
⚑ Japan's kei class caps displacement at 660 cc and power at 64 PS, and every design decision here follows from that. These are tiny engines asked to move real vehicles, so most are turbocharged, all of them rev, and none has any margin.
The LJ50 is a two-stroke triple — oil injected into the fuel, no valves at all, and a diagnosis that shares nothing with the rest of this catalogue.
On the four-strokes the recurring items are heat and oil. A turbocharged 660 working hard runs hot, and the turbocharger's oil feed is what the interval is really protecting — on an engine this small, an oil change missed is a turbocharger.
The K6A and R06A that followed are chain-driven and have their own page here; the F6A is belt-driven, which is the dividing line for maintenance.
Very few of these were sold outside Japan and South-East Asia, so parts and documentation are the practical constraint rather than the engineering.
