Chery ACTECO

Chery's own petrol engine family, in 1.5 and 1.6 litre turbocharged forms among others — the powerplants of the Tiggo range and the Arrizo, and the engines that ended Chery's reliance on licensed designs.

The family was developed with AVL in Austria, which is worth knowing because it explains why the architecture reads as conventionally European rather than as a copy of anything: direct injection, chain drive, turbocharging, and a modern emissions package. Later ACTECO engines have been claimed among the most thermally efficient petrol engines in production.

In service they behave as any modern downsized turbo does — intake-valve carbon at mileage, turbocharger life tied to oil condition, and sensitivity to fuel quality in the markets where these cars sell. The constraint is documentation rather than the engine: independent technical material is scarce outside China, and a fault more often has to be diagnosed from first principles than looked up. That is the situation this catalogue's community layer exists to change.
