Zamyad Z24

The Nissan Junior built in Iran for fifty-five years, and for most of that time the commonest working vehicle on Iranian roads — an owner-operated one-tonne pickup maintained by its driver, long out of any warranty, and therefore exactly the population that reads its own codes.

The badge on the grille says ZAMYAD and the engine underneath is Nissan's. That split is the most useful thing to establish on one: the running gear is the third-generation Nissan Junior's (N140/141), so Nissan Z-series material describes the engine, the gearbox and the rear axle directly, while nothing published under the Nissan badge describes the car — Nissan stopped building it in 1982 and everything after that is Iranian.

Two dates change what a scan tool can do with it. The car was carburetted until 2006 and multi-point injected afterwards, so a pre-2006 example has no engine management to interrogate at all and diagnosis is compression, timing and fuelling. And the Iranian injection is multi-point, where Nissan's own Z24i is throttle-body — so the fuel-delivery half of Nissan documentation describes a different system even where the block does not.

The last blue one was built on 4 October 2025 and the line did not stop. The EX, sold as the Nissan Extend, is the same chassis, gearbox and rear axle with a cab sixteen centimetres longer — but its engine is the M24 and not the Z24, which is the one thing about the change a reader diagnosing one needs to know: the outgoing car makes 100 hp and 190 Nm and the new one 94 and 187, from a different block. Everything behind the bulkhead interchanges and the engine number is what settles which you have.

Nothing about any of this reduces the fleet, which is enormous and mostly older than the injection.

    • 2.0 — H20 · petrol · 68 kW (91 hp) · 157 Nm (116 lb-ft) · carburettor; Nissan's own heritage datasheet for the 141 gives 68 kW (92 PS) at 4,800 and 157 Nm at 3,200, and en.wikipedia's 92 PS agrees with it

  • Second generation 1998–2025

Relaunched as the Zamyad 24 on the 2.4 Nissan Z-series — carburetted to 2006, multi-point injected after it, with a Chinese-built turbodiesel from 2009.

    • 2.4 — Z24 · petrol · 75 kW (100 hp) · 190 Nm (140 lb-ft) · carburettor to 2006, multi-point injection after it
    • 2.4 bi-fuel — Z24 · CNG bi-fuel · both Iranian sources reprint the petrol figures at the same peak speeds, so no gas-mode output is written
    • 2.8 turbo diesel — 28CRZ · diesel · 68 kW (91 hp) · 225 Nm (166 lb-ft) · from 2009, the FAW CA4D28C4-1 built in China on the Isuzu 4JB1; the torque holds from 1,600 to 2,600 and the power peaks at 3,600 — both sources state it as 93 PS, which is 68 kW and 91 hp, not 93 hp. fa.wikipedia says 100 where en.wikipedia and car.ir both say 93, and the two wikis share an ancestor — they also both claim 160 km/h, which car.ir does not

  • EX (Extend) 2025–present

The same chassis, engine, gearbox and axle with a cab 16 cm longer and the seats finally adjustable — sold as the Nissan Extend and badged Zamyad EX.

    • 2.4 — M24 · petrol · 70 kW (94 hp) · 187 Nm (138 lb-ft) · the Padra Plus's engine, which khodrobank writes `M24P` for the petrol version; the `Z24` this car replaces is a different engine at 100 hp and 190 Nm
    • 2.4 bi-fuel — M24 · CNG bi-fuel · offered from launch and rated for 2,000 kg against the petrol's 2,130; Zamyad's datasheet publishes a genuine gas-mode derate for this engine and no second source carries it, so no output is written
