Parking sensors beep for no reason
The parking aid sounds with nothing behind the car, sticks on one continuous tone, or reports an obstacle that is not there. Distinct from sensors that have stopped working, and usually easier to fix: the sensors are small ultrasonic transducers that measure an echo, so anything that changes the echo fools them — ice, thick mud, a coat of paint applied over them, or a towbar and bike rack the car does not know about. A single sensor stuck on one note is often simply wet inside, and a car that only does it in cold weather is telling you which.

A single sensor stuck on one note is often simply wet inside, and a car that only does it in cold weather is telling you which. Water gets past the seal, freezes, and the transducer can no longer vibrate freely — so it reports a permanent obstruction. That pattern — seasonal, one continuous tone, one corner — is close to a diagnosis on its own.
Which corner it sounds for usually identifies the sensor, because most systems indicate direction on the display as well as by tone. That costs nothing to observe and it points straight at the part.
Heavy rain on the bumper produces false readings for the same reason it produces misses: water droplets scatter the chirp. That is not a fault, and a system that only misbehaves in a downpour needs nothing done.
A towbar is the single commonest genuine 'obstruction'. The car detects it exactly as designed, and on vehicles without a factory towbar option there is often no way to tell the system it is there — so a detachable towbar removed when not in use is the practical answer.
