Fiat's six-speed transverse manual — the volume gearbox of the Fiat-Chrysler small and compact range, in the Tipo, 500L, 500X, Toro, Journey, Compass and Renegade.
⚑ It shares its designation with a dual-clutch and is not one. The C635 DDCT — Alfa Romeo's TCT — is the same family and a different machine, with its own clutches, its own actuator and its own failure pattern. A gearbox fault quoted for the C635 is worth nothing until somebody says which, and the cars that offered both are where that matters most: the 500X was sold with each.
As a cable-shifted transverse manual its recurring items are the ordinary ones — the clutch and its release bearing, the shift cables and their bushes, and the input shaft seal — and a notchy or vague shift is far more often linkage than gearbox.
