Hyundai's rear-drive six-speed manual — in the Genesis Coupé and the Genesis G70.
Hyundai builds its own, which at this size is unusual: most manufacturers buy a Getrag or an Aisin. So the parts and procedures are Hyundai's, and a search for a generic rear-drive six-speed finds the wrong gearbox.
The M6VR2 is the stronger version behind the turbocharged and larger engines; the two appear in the same models in overlapping years, and the engine decides.
Its recurring complaints are the clutch and its hydraulics rather than the gearbox — a bite point that has climbed, or a gear that becomes hard to select when hot. A crunch into every gear is the clutch not releasing, which is the same hydraulic problem seen from the other side.
Where the gearbox itself wears it is the third-gear synchro under hard use, which on a car of this kind is a rating question rather than a maintenance one.
