Vehicle
Fiat Stilo
The 2001-2007 family hatchback, and the model where Fiat's Body Computer takes over most of the car's electrical functions — which is the single most useful thing to know about it, because the resulting fault pattern is unlike a conventional car's. A failing Body Computer or a poor earth to it produces several unrelated warnings at once: lights, wipers, central locking and instrument faults appearing together, none of which is a wiring fault in the circuit it names. The engines themselves are conventional — the 1.6 and 1.8 16v petrols, and the 1.9 JTD common-rail diesel whose injector and turbo-vane fouling account for most of its powertrain codes. The Selespeed automated manual has its own hydraulic pump and position sensors.

Information, not instruction
CarGeek is a reference, not a service manual. Its pages are written from public sources and from what other people have found, never from a manufacturer's own service information, so they can be wrong or incomplete for your particular vehicle. Some of what they describe carries real risk: high voltage, fuel under pressure, stored energy, hot and moving parts.
Have anything you intend to act on checked by a trained person against the manufacturer's own procedure for your vehicle. Nothing here replaces that procedure.

What makes one worth reading:
- The car — make, model, year and engine. The same fault behaves differently on each.
- What you measured, not only what you replaced.
- What actually fixed it — or that nothing did, which is worth knowing too.
