Jaguar XF
The executive saloon and estate, and the make's European volume car. Two engine eras split it and the split matters: the earlier 2.7 and 3.0 V6 diesels are shared with Land Rover and carry a well-known crankshaft and timing-chain history at high mileage, while the later Ingenium four-cylinders are a wholly different engine family. Establishing which is the first step, because almost no diagnostic knowledge crosses between them.
