SsangYong Kyron
A body-on-frame SUV from the period when SsangYong was building under licence from Mercedes-Benz, and that is the fact that decides its diagnosis: the 2.0 and 2.7 XDi diesels are derived from Mercedes OM units, and the automatic gearbox is a Mercedes design. Mercedes information frequently applies where SsangYong information does not exist, particularly for the gearbox. The recurring faults are the diesel family's — a variable-geometry turbocharger whose vanes stick with soot and set boost codes, EGR fouling heavy enough to affect flow readings, and injectors whose copper washers leak into the head. Part-time four-wheel drive is electronically selected, so a driveline warning is often the actuator.
