SsangYong's 2.0-litre common-rail diesel — the XDi of the Korando, Actyon, Rexton and Tivoli, and the company's own design after years of building Mercedes-Benz engines under licence.
That licence history is the useful context: SsangYong's earlier diesels were Mercedes OM60x designs, so an older Musso or Rexton may carry a genuinely different engine from a later one wearing the same badge, and parts lookups by model year alone are unreliable. Establish the engine before the vehicle.
The D20's own profile is the modern small-diesel set — EGR blockage, particulate filter regeneration failure on short journeys, and the variable-geometry turbocharger sticking with carbon. Independent technical material is thin relative to European equivalents, which raises the value of community experience and of reasoning from the generic corpus rather than from a manufacturer bulletin nobody outside the network can see.
The XDi badge covers 1.6, 2.0 and 2.2 litres and this page answers for all of them, which is what the list below reflects. Given the licence history in the paragraph above, the badge is the least reliable thing on the car for identifying an engine — establish the code, not the size.
