Ford Crown Victoria
The body-on-frame rear-drive saloon on Ford's Panther platform, built with very little change for two decades and sold overwhelmingly to police fleets and taxi operators — which is why so many survive with enormous mileage and why a great deal of what is known about them comes from fleet maintenance rather than from owners. The 4.6 modular V8 is the only engine that matters and it is shared with the F-150 and the Mustang of the same years, so their material applies. Two things recur: the intake manifold on early cars was part-plastic and cracked at the coolant crossover, and the Police Interceptor's calibration, cooling and charging systems are genuinely different from the civilian car, so establishing which one is in front of you comes first. The Mercury Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town Car are the same vehicle.
