P0101: Mass or Volume Air Flow Sensor A Circuit Range/Performance
What to do
Expect hesitation and poor economy. Ask for the intake ducting and air filter to be checked before the sensor is replaced — a surprising share of these are leaks, not sensors.
What this code means
The airflow reading is electrically valid but implausible for the conditions — the module compares it against throttle position, engine speed and manifold pressure, and the numbers do not reconcile. This is the code that catches a dirty sensor rather than a dead one, and it is very often not the sensor at all: a partly blocked air filter, a split intake boot after the meter, or a leaking manifold gasket all produce airflow that genuinely does not match the rest of the picture. Inspect the whole intake tract before buying a sensor.
