P0414: Secondary Air Injection System Switching Valve A Circuit Shorted
What to do
Driveable with no symptom you would notice. Will fail an emissions test.
What this code means
The switching valve circuit is drawing more current than it should, or is shorted to ground or to a supply. Modules protect their output drivers, so a shorted circuit is often disabled after the fault is recorded — which means the valve stops working entirely rather than misbehaving.
A winding that has shorted internally and a harness chafed against the exhaust produce the same code. Disconnecting the valve and re-testing separates them: if the short persists with the valve unplugged, the fault is in the wiring.
