P0471: Exhaust Pressure Sensor A Circuit Range/Performance
What to do
Driveable, but worth prompt attention on a diesel for the same reason as P0470. Ask whether the sensor's pipework was checked as well as the sensor.
What this code means
The exhaust pressure sensor reads within its electrical range but implausibly for the conditions — reporting pressure with the engine stopped, or failing to rise under load.
The sensor's small sensing lines run into exhaust heat and soot, and they block or perish long before the sensor itself fails. A blocked line reports no pressure change from a system working perfectly, so the lines are the first thing to check and the cheapest to clear.
