Cause
Sensor drifted out of calibration
A sensor still working and no longer accurate. A plausible wrong number is worse than an obviously broken one, because the module trusts it — so the vehicle runs slightly wrong indefinitely with no hard fault, and the code that eventually appears is a rationality check rather than a circuit fault.
